The practice-based communication trainings prepare participants for public appearances, whether press conferences, TV or radio interviews, presentations, conference panel discussions, or corporate speeches.
Generally, half-day (4-hour) and full-day (8-hour) modules are available, but I always tailor the training sessions according to the specific needs of my clients, focusing on the areas they really want to develop and extend on.
The theoretical part of the training covers:
– Background of public/media operations and functions (main characteristics of scandal, drama, and conflict-centred news editing and content creation and their platforms, and the challenges of traditional and social media)
– Preparation techniques (selection, formulation, and delivery of messages)
– Essential elements of effective statements/presentations (storytelling, performance strategies, thematizing strategies, and balancing verbal and visual elements)
– Reasoning techniques (rational – emotional, one-sided – two-sided)
– Avoidance/resolution of dangerous situations, ‘traps’
– Use of non-verbal communication tools
During the practical training part, we model various forms of performances (selected during a pre-consultation and tailored to needs) such as
– interviews
– presentations
– press conferences
– flash/news-style rapid interviews
– panel discussions
Then we review and analyse the recorded videos together on-site, where I provide immediate feedback on the performances. At the end of the training, participants receive a personalized, multi-page performance evaluation highlighting areas/skills for further improvement.
I welcome to continue our discussion over the phone or in person. I do hope to collaborate on a successful training or event soon!
